Men are guardians of women, because Allah has made one superior to the other - Surah An-Nisa

 مرد عورتوں پر محافظ و منتظِم ہیں اس لئے کہ اللہ نے ان میں سے بعض کو بعض پر فضیلت دی ہے - سوره النساء 

Translation

Verse # 34: Men are guardians of women, because Allah has made one superior to the other, and (also) because men spend their wealth (on them). So the pious wives are obedient. They guard (their chastity) in the absence of their husbands with the protection of Allah. But those women whom you fear will disobey and defy, admonish them; and (if they do not amend) separate them (from yourselves) in beds; and (if they still do not improve) turn away from them, striking a temporary parting. Then if they become cooperative with you, do not seek any way against them. Surely, Allah is Most High, Most Great.

 مرد عورتوں پر محافظ و منتظِم ہیں اس لئے کہ اللہ نے ان میں سے بعض کو بعض پر فضیلت دی ہے اور اس وجہ سے (بھی) کہ مرد (ان پر) اپنے مال خرچ کرتے ہیں، پس نیک بیویاں اطاعت شعار ہوتی ہیں شوہروں کی عدم موجودگی میں اللہ کی حفاظت کے ساتھ (اپنی عزت کی) حفاظت کرنے والی ہوتی ہیں۔ اور تمہیں جن عورتوں کی نافرمانی و سرکشی کا اندیشہ ہو تو اُنہیں نصیحت کرو اور (اگر نہ سمجھیں تو) اُنہیں خواب گاہوں میں (خود سے) علیحدہ کر دو اور (اگر پھر بھی اِصلاح پذیر نہ ہوں تو) اُن سے (تادیباً) عارضی طور پر الگ ہو جاؤ؛ پھر اگر وہ (رضائے الٰہی کے لیے) تمہارے ساتھ تعاون کرنے لگیں تو ان کے خلاف کوئی راستہ تلاش نہ کرو۔ بیشک اللہ سب سے بلند سب سے بڑا ہے
